The Silk Scarf by Aahmed Essop

setting:took place in the Oriental Plaza in Johannesburg.
time: day time
Plot: Mrs Nebo was the wife of an important officiak of the Front. Mrs Nebo, her friend and the two escorts went for shopping in the Oriental Plaza. Mrs Nebo saw a lovely dress on the tummy in through the shop`s window and she decided to buy it. She went almostin all the shops looking for the silk scarf that is matching with the dress until she came to 'Moghul Boutique'. Mrs Nnebo looked in her handbag and counted her money after counting she found that she was fifteen rand short. She looked at the shopkeepper and asked him if she could write a cheque but there was a notice in the shop that "cheques are not accepted".Mr Sakur looked at her without saying a word and he pointed at the notice. He ran his business according to his rules. He had refussed to accept the cheque from many customers and he would make an acception in the lady`s case. Mrs Nebo felt humiliated by his action, her intergrity tarnished. Several shopkeepers opposite 'Moghul Boutique' heard the dispute and entered, wanted to know what was happenning. the shopkeepers, all friends of Mr sakur remined silent and they looked at each other. they knew the coinsiquence of offending the wife of  an important politician. They pleaded Mr Sakur to accepyt the cheque. Mr Sakur didn`t want to accept the cheque and Mrs Bebo was intented to take the silk scarf. One of the traders gave money to Mr Sakur for the scarf aaand than addressed Mrs Nebo that it was a gift from the traaders in the Orientaaal Plaza. Mrs Nebo smiled happily after receiving the gift and thanked the traders
